Discreet and unassuming, this Spanish tapas and oyster bar is redefining the burger with an elevated take that delivers a fascinating flavor profile. Casa Thirteen’s ode to Raoul’s may have just outdone the iconic classic.

  • The Burger: The Burger (Tier 1). Peppercorn-seasoned patty, Roquefort cheese, fried onions, arugula, and mayo between a Balthazar brioche bun, served with a side of peppercorn Au Poivre sauce. Rich, creamy, and decadent - this is the definition of a well-balanced burger. The 7oz patty, made from a juicy 75/25 blend, is cooked to a perfect medium-rare with a thin, delicate char on the outside that gives way to melt-in-your-mouth tenderness. The mixture of Sarawak and green peppercorn adds a fresh, delicate, and aromatic flavor profile, enhancing the burger with a nuanced complexity rather than an overpowering spice. The Roquefort is smooth and bold, while the generously applied mayo contributes a velvety richness. Crispy fried onions and fresh arugula bring welcome texture and brightness, and the lightly toasted bun is incredibly soft - almost cloud-like. And then, there's the sauce. The Au Poivre is luxurious, and so good you'll want to drink it (I did). Cut the burger in half and dip it to bring the entire experience to the next level.

  • Pro Tip: This burger is only available during aperitivo (happy hour) on weekdays from 5-7pm (Fridays 4-6pm) - and they are strict about it! No need to rush, they won’t run out. It eats light and clean, giving you plenty of substance while still leaving room for the rest of the menu. Their housemade cheesecake is a dynamite dessert option.

  • The Occasion & Vibe: With Drinks. The long bar, intimate cocktail seating, and moody lighting create a setting that is both inviting and refined - perfect for a date or a drink after work. The space retains character from what existed before, with exposed brick columns framing a weathered wall and the original facade behind the bar. With a wraparound outdoor seating setup coming this spring, it’s also a prime spot for warm-weather dining.

  • The Location: Lower East Side, Delancey Street & Bowery.
