In the midst of bustling Midtown East, Monkey Bar offers a refreshing escape, blending a vibrant downtown vibe with the nostalgic charm of 1930s New York.

  • The Burger: Wagyu Cheeseburger (Tier 3). Two Snake River Farms Wagyu patties, American cheddar cheese, pickles, onions, dijonnaise. The patties are cooked to perfection while the dijonnaise and diced red onion meld together to provide a smooth, creamy depth of flavor. Every bite unfolds with ease as the rich and buttery Wagyu seamlessly blends with each component, delivering a flavor profile that opens up in your mouth with a satisfying complexity.

  • Pro Tip: There’s another burger on the menu, but the Wagyu is clearly superior. Crispy fries are necessary and come separately, served with smooth garlic aioli. Their tiny bar is first come, first served, and walk-ins are also reasonable, in my experience.

  • The Occasion & Vibe: Date Night / Reservations Recommended. Monkey Bar is versatile enough for a business dinner or date, offering an eclectic atmosphere that’s both sophisticated and playful. The cozy back dining room is a standout, featuring caricatures of iconic New Yorkers on the walls, monkey lamps, and plush red leather booths that evoke a bygone era.

  • The Location: Midtown East, 54th Street Between Park and Madison Avenues.
