Burgers from a bagel shop? Absolutely! Come prepared with a hearty appetite because Jarrett’s menu offers an array of options beyond your wildest expectations. The pepperoni and onion bar pie is incredible - so thin and crisp. The lawsuit chicken sliders and Caesar salad are some of the best I’ve ever had. But this is a burger review…

  • The Burger: B-X-J Burger Box (Tier 3). House ground chuck, brisket, and short rib beef blend with American cheese, special sauce, raw white onion, and leaf lettuce on a Big Marty’s seeded bun. Served with house cut fries. This big burger on a big bun offers a mouthwatering experience with a delightful chew. The burger juices and sauce create a harmonious blend. An ideal amount of melted cheese envelops the expertly charred meat, which strikes the perfect balance between char and juiciness. And Jarrett’s also got sliders, 3 per order.

  • Pro Tip: Jarrett runs happy hour discounts often, which are announced via Instagram. Be on the lookout!

  • The Occasion & Vibe: Quick. Takeout or delivery only. They get so busy this is the only way. Your car or your house - that’s the vibe.

  • The Location: NJ, West Orange.

Located inside the Hyatt Union Square, Bowery Road offers a burger experience that captures the essence of the city's culinary scene.

  • The Burger: Bowery Burger (Tier 3). Grass-fed beef, white cheddar, lettuce, tomato, onion, pickles, and special sauce, on a squishy white bun. Served with fries. A humble yet delightful creation that speaks to the soul of comfort food.

  • Pro Tip: If you’re a guest of the Hyatt, you can order this burger for room service.

  • The Occasion & Vibe: Date Night. The warm lighting and blackened steel create a versatile environment fitting for casual gatherings or a nice date.

  • The Location: Union Square, 4th Avenue & 13th Street.

Chez Nick is a quintessential neighborhood restaurant serving up New American cuisine and a standout burger. With a name like “The Burger”, it has high standards to meet, and it does.

  • The Burger: The Burger (Tier 3). Double patties, American cheese, caramelized onions, kosher pickles, and special sauce settled nicely on some bib lettuce, all between a well-structured brioche bun. Served with french fries.

  • Pro Tip: Ask for a side of their special sauce to elevate your french fries and enjoy their unique cocktail offerings.

  • The Occasion & Vibe: An atmosphere perfect for enjoying an unpretentious yet delectable dining experience.

  • The Location: Upper East Side, 91st Street & York Avenue.

With locations in three of NYC’s five boroughs, Clinton Hall brings good fun and great food to all. An elevated beer hall that features plenty of gaming options, and a burger that took home the 2018 NYC Wine & Food Festival’s Burger Bash crown.

  • The Burger: The Double Smashed (Tier 3). Two patties, American cheese, CH sauce, crispy shallots, and bread and butter pickles on a sesame seed bun. The bread and butter pickles are like the cherry on top, bringing all the flavors together. It’s no wonder this won the Burger Bash!

  • Pro Tip: Explore their extensive selection of craft beers to find the perfect pairing.

  • The Occasion & Vibe: Groups. Clinton Hall features a plethora of beer garden style benches, so there's plenty of room for a large gathering. Battle your friends in Jenga, Uno, or their many other complimentary games.

  • The Location: Multiple locations.

A true New York institution, Corner Bistro serves up a no-frills classic that will never go out of style.

  • The Burger: Bistro Burger (Tier 3). In the words of Anthony Bourdain, this is the “big cheese of the bar burgers”. A half pound burger with American cheese and crisp bacon served with lettuce, tomato, raw white onion, and pickles.

  • Pro Tip: They also have a quarter pound version of the Bistro Burger.  Savor the burger with a cold beer for the true New York bar experience.

  • The Occasion & Vibe: Dive. A down-to-earth and historic atmosphere that's perfect for savoring a timeless burger. Take your time and soak in the authentic New York vibe that permeates the establishment.

  • The Location: West Village, West 4th Street & Jane Street.

The Dutch is a neighborhood spot where I always feel at home. With their handsome storefront located on a corner in SoHo, they bring a touch of casual elegance to the New York restaurant and burger scene. One look, and you know you’re in for a good meal.

  • The Burger: Grass-fed Double Dutch Burger (Tier 3). Two patties, loads of cheddar cheese, pickles, and their secret sauce on a soft white sesame seed bun. A harmonious balance of flavor.

  • Pro Tip: This burger’s great, but their overall menu may be even better. Enjoy their oyster selection, and remember that no meal there is complete without their Ace’s Famous Hot Fried Chicken. Oh, and the drinks, don’t forget the drinks!

  • The Occasion & Vibe: Date Night / Reservations Recommended. A sophisticated yet approachable atmosphere perfect for any occasion. Plenty of bar and traditional dining seating works well for a night out, business lunch, and anything in between. A great corner for people watching if you’re outside or seated near the windows.

  • The Location: SoHo, Sullivan & Prince.

Emmy Squared has over twenty restaurants nationwide, seven of them across Manhattan and Brooklyn. Good, because this burger should be available to everyone. Emmy Squared delivers a delightful atmosphere with a playful spin on the classic burger.

  • The Burger: Le Big Matt (Tier 3). A half pound of double-stack beef patties, American cheese, sammy sauce, greens, and pickles on a super soft pretzel bun. Served with a side of waffle fries. The layers of ingredients form a delightful symphony of flavors that's worth exploring.

  • Pro Tip: You can add bacon, but I don’t think it's necessary. What is necessary, though, is to order their deep-dish pizza.

  • The Occasion & Vibe: Date Night / Reservations Recommended. A lively and energetic setting perfect for enjoying their creative burger. Lunch or dinner, it doesn’t matter. Reservations are a must, as this place is popular!

  • The Location: Multiple locations.

“Exhale negativity, inhale tacos” is prominently displayed on their food menu. But Empellón has a secret weapon - a surprisingly great burger that's sure to delight.

  • The Burger: Cheeseburger (Tier 3). Two patties, American cheese, and a special sauce with pickled jalapenos between a double-toasted potato roll. If a taco were a burger, this would be it. This miniature masterpiece is a compact, perfectly formed burger that's ideal for a snack or a smaller appetite. It’s low-key, one of the best burgers in the city, and a great value.

  • Pro Tip: While Empellón has multiple locations, the burger is only available in the West Village. If you’re on the waitlist for any of the legendary burger spots in the neighborhood, consider stopping by here to prime yourself.

  • The Occasion & Vibe: With Drinks. The vibe is lively, with neon art throughout and a large space that's perfect for a night out with friends. Ample table and bar seating mean you can hang out for a while. Happy hour runs from 4-6pm, and Friday and Saturday late nights feature taco deals. As expected, the tacos are delicious

  • The Location: West Village, West 10th Street & West 4th Street.

In their words, “Fairfax is an all-day neighborhood restaurant. Come through and hang!” Head there for a great time and one of the best burgers around.

  • The Burger: The Burger (from Bar Sardine) (Tier 3). Formerly known as the Fedora Burger, this one brings it. With BBQ mayo, cheddar, crispy potatoes, and red onion, these flavors are sure to surprise and delight. It’s served between a toasted bun that’s so squished it looks more like a pancake, the perfect vessel for this burger.

  • Pro Tip: Add a fried egg on top during lunch if that's your thing, but the burger does not need any additions.

  • The Occasion & Vibe: With Drinks. I can’t quite put my finger on how best to describe the vibe here, but it's definitely unique, eclectic, etc. The hodgepodge of furniture and decor all around provides a warm and welcoming feel that isn't replicated anywhere else in the city.

  • The Location: West Village, West 10th Street & West 4th Street.

Great Jones is undoubtedly a distillery first, but don’t sleep on them for a meal. “Manhattan’s first whiskey distillery since prohibition” presents a well-rounded menu with locally sourced ingredients and a beautiful atmosphere.

  • The Burger: The Burger (Tier 3). Red wine braised onions, applewood smoked bacon, and cheddar cheese. The patty is mid-sized and very tender, generously coated with cheese. The red onions have the right sweetness while the bacon is perfectly thick and crispy with the right chew. All of this is sandwiched between a seeded bun that’s soft and fluffy on the inside with a crisp, thin outside layer and served with hand cut fries.

  • Pro Tip: A seemingly mayo-based sauce is provided on the side, taking this burger to the next level. Lettuce, tomato, and their delicious house pickles also come with, but they aren’t needed. Join them for “Prohibition Hour” where cocktails are $11!

  • The Occasion & Vibe: With Drinks. Upstairs features a walk-in only tasting room bar, while downstairs has a full dining room with counter seating that looks directly into their open kitchen. My favorite feature is the dining room’s map highlighting Manhattan speakeasies open during prohibition.

  • The Location: NoHo, Broadway & Great Jones Street.

Hawksmoor provides one of the most refined, elegant, and welcoming restaurant experiences you'll find anywhere. One of the few local charcoal steakhouses, they deliver a uniquely unmatched menu.

  • The Burger: Hawksmoor Cheeseburger (Tier 3). Grass-fed beef, bone marrow, Briana cheese, lettuce, tomato, onion, and pickle. The patty is beautifully charred, tender, and juicy, complemented nicely by the bone marrow’s buttery and creamy flavor infused into every bite. The supporting cast of ingredients offers a refreshing touch, while a creamy dijon-like aioli delivers a tangy depth to the burger.

  • Pro Tip: The burger is only available for lunch or at the bar (which has a full menu). Beef dripping fries are included for lunch and are a necessary side order when at the bar. The bar only accepts walk-ins, and table seating is available.

  • The Occasion & Vibe: With Drinks. Hawksmoor features an extensive cocktail menu that has something for everyone (non-alcoholic, too). The building is 130+ years old and rich with history, palpable from the moment you walk in. Their main dining room is one of the most magnificent spaces in the city - a stunning, one-of-a-kind setting that's an absolute must-see. Beyond the burger, head there again for the perfect date night with that special someone.

  • The Location: Gramercy, 22nd Street & Park Avenue.

Bonus Thought: Hawksmoor is a truly special restaurant that redefines expectations in every way. While the burger is outstanding, it's just the beginning. I've enjoyed visiting numerous times, and each experience has been consistently impressive. The desserts are decadent and creative, the craft cocktails are expertly mixed, and the charcoal grilled steaks stand out, elevated by the charcoal grilling process, adding a distinct, smoky flavor. The charcoal-roasted scallops are, hands down, the best I've ever had. These succulent scallops are seared to perfection, bursting with garlicky flavor, and served on a bed of creamy mashed potatoes that soak up every last drop (Pro tip: order a fourth scallop for even splitting – trust me, you'll want it!). Whether celebrating a special occasion or simply seeking a memorable dining experience, The Hawksmoor is an excellent choice. Its unique blend of refined atmosphere, exceptional service, and outstanding cuisine make it a standout in the city.

Houseman brings its culinary mastery to the burger scene with a creation that's a blend of tradition and innovation.

  • The Burger: Houseman Burger (Tier 3). Two thin patties and swiss cheese topped with their caramelized onion and mushroom mix on a Martin’s potato roll. A burger that reflects the dedication to quality ingredients and expert preparation, offering a satisfying and flavorful bite.

  • Pro Tip: Don’t change a thing, order it as it comes. Pair your burger with one of their signature cocktails to enhance your dining experience.

  • The Occasion & Vibe: With Drinks. A welcoming and inviting ambiance that's perfect for enjoying a gourmet burger in a relaxed setting. Sandwiched between the West Side Highway and Holland Tunnel, Houseman provides some much needed solace in this busy part of town.

  • The Location: TriBeCa, Greenwich Street & Spring Street.

JG Melon's delivers a definitive New York pub burger that’s on many visitors' must-try lists, as it should be. The burger’s a good one, and the ambiance will transport you back in time like only an old-school NYC institution can.

  • The Burger: Cheeseburger (Tier 3). A thick pub burger with American cheese, thin red onions, and pickles on a toasted white bun. Super juicy, the way a pub burger should be.

  • Pro Tip: Lettuce and tomato can be added upon request, but don’t. Their signature cottage fries are a must, and they feature many other well-done comfort foods like chili, grilled cheese, and pecan pie.

  • The Occasion & Vibe: Dive. This is an absolute classic NYC establishment that everyone should experience at least once. Green and white checkered tablecloths, melon art, and plaques with their house rules will surround you. Be prepared to wait as it gets busy and they do not take reservations. They’ll take your name, and you’ll wait on the corner until they call you. Don’t forget that JG Melon is a cash-only establishment.

  • The Location: Upper East Side, 3rd Avenue & 74th Street.

Leña at Mercado Little Spain brings a Spanish touch to the burger scene with the Txuleburger. As they say, “if Spaniards had invented burgers…”

  • The Burger: Txuleburger (Tier 3). An 8oz 60-day dry-aged ribeye burger cooked over charcoal and then topped with American cheese, their secret sauce, and pickled green peppers. It's a darn good one, unlike anything you’ve ever eaten before - a must try.

  • Pro Tip: The Chef recommends medium rare, and so do I. Order the fries (not included with the burger) - they are super crispy and topped with blistered green peppers.

  • The Occasion & Vibe: Date Night / Reservations Recommended. Leña is located within Mercado Little Spain, a Spanish food hall with multiple different restaurants. The food hall offers a super casual and fun setting, with Leña specifically providing a more upscale vibe.

  • The Location: Hudson Yards, 10th Avenue & West 30th Street. Access them via the lower level of The Shops at Hudson Yards or via 30th Street underneath the High Line.

Linwood Inn Tap House delivers a burger and sports bar experience that's worth the journey.

  • The Burger: Crispy Onion Burger with American Cheese (Tier 3). A massive, loosely packed, super juicy burger served on a squishy sesame seed Kaiser roll. Served with American cheese, lettuce, tomato, and what else…a pile of crispy onions (I suggest adding mayo). Burgers come with a side of their seasoned crinkle-cut fries, or you can substitute onion rings.

  • Pro Tip: The menu here is LEGIT. Eat. It. All! They have over 15 different burgers on the menu and everything else your stomach can desire. The pizzas are a must, ranked an 8.2 by Dave Portnoy. In his words, “This place rules!”

  • The Occasion & Vibe: With Drinks. This is the definition of a sports bar with massive TVs and memorabilia all around. Literally, there's no spot in the house where you won’t have a great view of at least 10 TVs. It's one of the best places for a game anywhere. At only a 15-minute train ride from NY Penn and down the block from the station, it’s more than worth the trip.

  • The Location: NJ, Linden.

A 1950’s vibe, laminate countertops, Greek coffee cups, and plastic baskets covered with green checkered wax paper - all the right signs for a proper burger.

  • The Burger: Charlotte’s Special (Tier 3). Served with “lots of fried onions,” pickles, American cheese, and Charlotte’s sauce on a toasted potato roll. Piping hot onions are piled on, adding richness and sweetness to this burger.

  • Pro Tip: A single patty is the move, and you can add a number of toppings like bacon and hot cherry peppers. Their onion rings are great, and their “sidewinder” fries have a nice blend of crispiness on the exterior and a fluffy, piping-hot interior. I enjoyed the snappy dog, and patty melt’s supposed to be great, too. Order at the kiosk.

  • The Occasion & Vibe: At The Counter. Lovely’s offers up a traditional 1950’s feel with their narrow setting that puts your counter seat smack in the middle of the wall and the griddle. There’s something nostalgic about being that close to the action that’s tougher to find nowadays.  They have about 10 counter seats and sometimes outdoor tables on the sidewalk. You can also take it to go.

  • The Location: Hell’s Kitchen, 9th Avenue & 45th Street.

Many diners have a smash burger on the menu, but I find they often miss the mark. The Mansion Restaurant, however, delivers a comforting smash burger done right (and much more). Other diners: take note!

  • The Burger: Super Smash-Up Burger (Tier 3). A beefy double smash burger that's seared crispy and topped with American cheese, grilled onions, pickles, and secret sauce, served on a Martin’s potato roll. Combos come with their crispy dipper fries, dusted with either Nashville Hot, Salt & Pepper, or Nacho seasoning.

  • Pro Tip: Hotdogs and hamburgers. Order the American Beauty Combo which adds their crispy dipper fries with a grilled Boar’s Head skin on hot dog (also on a Martin’s roll). Only twenty bucks for all this! No one else in the city does it like this, the definition of comfort food menu item.

  • The Occasion & Vibe: At The Counter. They’ve been there since 1945 and they’ve struck the right balance with a modern, super clean feel that still represent the 1940’s. Counter, booth, table and outdoor seating options are available. It's a neighborhood favorite, especially around Halloween when the building and interior get decorated.

  • The Location: Upper East Side, York Avenue & 86th Street.

In the midst of bustling Midtown East, Monkey Bar offers a refreshing escape, blending a vibrant downtown vibe with the nostalgic charm of 1930s New York.

  • The Burger: Wagyu Cheeseburger (Tier 3). Two Snake River Farms Wagyu patties, American cheddar cheese, pickles, onions, dijonnaise. The patties are cooked to perfection while the dijonnaise and diced red onion meld together to provide a smooth, creamy depth of flavor. Every bite unfolds with ease as the rich and buttery Wagyu seamlessly blends with each component, delivering a flavor profile that opens up in your mouth with a satisfying complexity.

  • Pro Tip: There’s another burger on the menu, but the Wagyu is clearly superior. Crispy fries are necessary and come separately, served with smooth garlic aioli. Their tiny bar is first come, first served, and walk-ins are also reasonable, in my experience.

  • The Occasion & Vibe: Date Night / Reservations Recommended. Monkey Bar is versatile enough for a business dinner or date, offering an eclectic atmosphere that’s both sophisticated and playful. The cozy back dining room is a standout, featuring caricatures of iconic New Yorkers on the walls, monkey lamps, and plush red leather booths that evoke a bygone era.

  • The Location: Midtown East, 54th Street Between Park and Madison Avenues.

A Michelin-starred restaurant with a neighborhood feel, One White Street absolutely delivers. This restaurant sits within a converted townhouse constructed in 1807. Not only that but its ingredients are sourced from its own upstate farm.

  • The Burger: 1WS Cheeseburger (Tier 3). Two 5.3oz patties, white cheddar, and thinly shaved white onion. All this rich goodness is harmoniously complemented by a delectable sauce, and the ensemble is perfectly cradled within a soft sesame seed bun. The flavors meld seamlessly, elevating the concept of a burger to new heights. To complete this savory journey, crisp pickles on the side add a delightful touch of tanginess.

  • Pro Tip: You read that right, this is a 10+ oz double cheeseburger! Bring your appetite, or even better - split it and order everything else on the menu. Order from their tasting or à la carte menus, but know that the burger is only à la carte.

  • The Occasion & Vibe: Date Night / Reservations Recommended. Whether you're enjoying a meal with friends or creating memories during a romantic evening, One White Street offers a stylish and comfortable backdrop in the heart of the city.

  • The Location: TriBeCa, West Broadway & White Street.

"If you don't see it, create it" - proudly displayed at the top of their menu, encapsulates the ethos of Paul's Da Burger Joint. Stepping inside, you're instantly transported to a classic diner setting, complete with checkered tablecloths and nostalgic retro adornments. The ambiance, paired with their generously sized and juicy burgers, effortlessly captures the essence of 1950’s America.

  • The Burger: Cheese Burger Deluxe (Tier 3). I like it this way - American cheese, lettuce, tomato, onion, and mayo - but that’s just me. They have 20 different burgers on the menu with tons of toppings so you can get it however you like! Each burger features a generous half-pound of meticulously seasoned, loosely packed beef (or turkey), ensuring a succulent and flavorful experience.

  • Pro Tip: Burgers are between a pedestrian white bun, but you can switch to a Kaiser roll for $1 more. Pair your burger with one of their milkshakes, floats, or egg creams to complete the nostalgia.

  • The Occasion & Vibe: At The Counter. A casual and welcoming atmosphere perfect for enjoying a classic burger in a relaxed setting. They offer counter service or table seating.

  • The Location: East Village, St. Mark’s Place & 2nd Avenue.

The Pomeroy stands out with its diverse menu, offering a wide array of options and expertly crafted cocktails. From flavorful fish tacos to classic chicken parm, this culinary journey is sure to leave you satisfied. Of course, don't miss out on their exceptional burger, a highlight that adds to the restaurant's culinary prowess.

  • The Burger: The Pomeroy Burger with American Cheese (Tier 3). Lettuce, tomato, thinly sliced red onion, and special sauce on a brioche bun. A burger that's all about layers and flavors, featuring a thick patty adorned with classic toppings.

  • Pro Tip: Don't forget to add cheese, it doesn't come with it! You can also add bacon if you like. Enjoy one of their signature cocktails to enhance your dining experience - these are as much the star of the show as the burger. And they have fried chicken!

  • The Occasion & Vibe: With Drinks. Revel in the warmth of this laid-back neighborhood spot that exudes a sense of community and familiarity. The wood-paneled walls evoke a contemporary rustic charm, creating an inviting ambiance reminiscent of a modern lodge.

  • The Location: Astoria, 36-12 Ditmars Boulevard.

The most simple burger - done right. There’s something about the red and white checkered tablecloths that just let you know you’ve come to the right place. A perennial classic that has stood the test of time.

  • The Burger: The PJs 1884 Cheeseburger / The Cadillac (Tier 3). There are a few burgers on the menu here, and they are all solid. I prefer the 1884 because, for me, less is more; the Cadillac adds bacon. American cheese, lettuce, tomato, onion - that's it. The white onion is served thick cut “under the bun to scent the bread ever so slightly”. The simplicity of their ingredients allows the flavors to shine, making it a nostalgic and satisfying choice.

  • Pro Tip: Grab a cold one and enjoy. The Third Ave location has been their original since 1884. Seating is tight, but this is the best experience. Their other locations have more abundant seating.

  • The Occasion & Vibe: With Drinks. A quintessential New York spot that provides a welcoming and lively atmosphere. P.J. Clarke's is perfect for a casual gathering with friends or a quick bite during a bustling day in the city.

  • The Location: Multiple locations across the city (and Philly, DC). Overlooking the Hudson, Lincoln Square for dinner and a show, and the OG on Third Avenue & 55th Street.

Welcome to Pubkey, where the worlds of cryptocurrency and barrooms collide. This “bitcoin bar”, located in the basement space of a Greenwich Village townhouse, provides a one-of-a-kind setting and food menu.

  • The Burger: Double Smash Burger (Tier 3). Two quarter pound Wagyu patties, American cheese, sauted onion, pickles, and pub sauce on a lightly toasted sesame seed bun. The juicy meat, generously topped with cheese and sauce, practically melts in your mouth. Subtle, flavorful onions enhance the overall profile, while crinkle-cut pickles provide a sturdy foundation.

  • Pro Tip: Get the double with no extra toppings. Fries come separately. Besides the burger, a wide variety of hot dogs are the real staple on the menu.

  • The Occasion & Vibe: Dive. Pubkey exudes a modern and vibrant atmosphere, brimming with personality. The front maintains a traditional narrow bar featuring low copper ceilings, blue and white checkered floors, and classic black barstools. In the back room, a vaulted skylight ceiling, neon lights/signs, and a disco ball surround an open floor area with table seating. TVs - two large in the back, and one small in the front (next to their live bitcoin ticker).

  • The Location: Greenwich Village, Washington Place & 6th Avenue.

At Schnipper's, they live by the motto “food for people” - where every bite speaks a delicious, inclusive language embodying the diverse spirit of the Big Apple. From the moment you walk in, you’re greeted by smiling faces and a MASSIVE menu wall that embodies American comfort food. Amid the plethora of tempting options, don't miss the chance to indulge in their incredible burgers.

  • The Burger: The Old Fashioned (Tier 3). A big, extra juicy patty with double American cheese, griddled onions, and classic pink juice. I don't know what that mysterious pink juice is, but it’s the secret weapon! The burger is super thick and cooked perfectly, crowned with a skewer to hold everything in place.

  • Pro Tip: I like pickles so I added them. Customize it your own way, or try one of their other exciting burgers on the menu. Also, be sure to check out the featured burger specials beyond the regular offerings.

  • The Occasion & Vibe: Quick / Casual. A fast-casual establishment perfect for quick meals or group gatherings. Schnipper’s offers a laid-back and friendly ambiance for a relaxed dining experience

  • The Location: Multiple locations. Times Square, Midtown East.

Head to Suprema Provisions for an incomparable burger experience delivered the way only an Italian eatery can.

  • The Burger: The Suprema Burger (Tier 3). Short rib, brisket, Iberico jamon bacon jam, black garlic sauce, aged cheddar, and roasted tomatoes, on a brioche bun. This is more than a burger, it’s an Italian masterpiece! Bursting with remarkable flavors and a unique sweetness from the jam, every bite is a symphony of taste. The tender and juicy thick patty, delicately packed, harmonizes with the gooey liquid cheddar and roasted tomatoes. Paired with Brussels sprouts sporting a tangy balsamic glaze, this meal evokes a comforting ‘Sunday dinner’ feeling.

  • Pro Tip: Substitutions or omissions are not allowed and the temperature is decided, I think a perfect medium rare. Fries aren’t on the menu.

  • The Occasion & Vibe: With Drinks. Enter a lively, cozy space with large glass storefronts that invite the outside in, rustic Italian decor, and a buzzing atmosphere. Cocktail shakers harmonize with kitchen sounds and soft tunes, creating a vibrant backdrop complemented by an open kitchen and full bar. Dive into their extensive wine and cocktail menu, with Negronis stealing the show.

  • The Location: West Village, Bleecker Street & & 7th Avenue.

Bringing the essence of California to the bustling heart of NYC, Upland showcases culinary finesse across an enticing menu. During lunch, you’ll find a classic yet innovative burger creation.

  • The Burger: Upland Cheeseburger (Tier 3). Featuring two grass-fed beef patties, generously layered with thick American cheese and topped with the vibrant flavors of peppadew peppers, arugula, and avocado. Nestled within a sesame seed bun, the perfect foundation for this delicious ensemble - you’ll need two hands for this California beauty. A burger that's a testament to quality ingredients and creative combinations.

  • Pro Tip: While the burger is undoubtedly delicious, you might find an even more exceptional experience during dinner, so don’t limit yourself to only visiting for lunch. The pizzas are light and airy; the duck wings will make a believer out of anyone; the pasta is indulgent; the desserts…ok, everything’s great here…go!

  • The Occasion & Vibe: Lunch Only. Upland provides a stylish and chic setting, perfect for a romantic date or the quintessential NYC meal. The warm and modern decor effortlessly blends sophistication with a relaxed ambiance.

  • The Location: Gramercy, Park Avenue South & 26th Street.

Nestled on a picturesque tree-lined street in the West Village, The Waverly Inn is a quintessential NYC dining destination. Here, you might find yourself in the company of celebrities while savoring the flavors of their renowned namesake burger.

  • The Burger: Waverly All-Natural Cheeseburger (Tier 3). A thick and juicy burger uniquely topped with tomato jam, Vermont cheddar, and dijonaise, between a seeded Amy’s Bun. Served with fries.

  • Pro Tip: Photography is prohibited inside The Waverly Inn. No comment on how I am in possession of the above photos.

  • The Occasion & Vibe: Date Night / Reservations Recommended. You’ll need reservations to dine here, so plan ahead. The place is super cozy and warm, palpable from the moment you step inside, directly in their bar room. Low ceilings, dim lighting, and oil-painted murals adorn the walls. For a unique touch, reserve a spot in their charming outside garden where you can dine beside a tree growing through the greenhouse roof.

  • The Location: West Village, Waverly Place & Bank Street.

Located perfectly within a busy intersection right off the Garden State Parkway, The White Diamond welcomes diners with its gleaming chrome facade that’s reminiscent of an Airstream trailer. This go-to spot for locals is all about delivering a familiar, satisfying, and affordable experience. The menu features classic diner staples, but the breakfast and burgers are king.

  • The Burger: Large Cheeseburger (Tier 3). Every burger at The White Diamond is a simple masterpiece, featuring loosely packed meat smashed with onions and crowned with American cheese. Served on small white paper plates, each order includes a side of pickles for an extra burst of flavor. The large burgers arrive on a poppy seed kaiser roll, while the smaller ones are presented on a humble white bun. For the ultimate experience, try both - each is exceptional in its own right.

  • Pro Tip: Cash only! The White Diamond used to be 24/7, but it's not anymore; don’t be fooled by its outdoor sign.

  • The Occasion & Vibe: Dive. Checkered black-and-white tiles underfoot, complemented by classic 1950s signs adorning the walls, set the stage for a nostalgic ambiance. Both counter seating and booth options are available.

  • The Location: NJ, Clark.
